Reviews pouring in on the NewPath Consulting Book Giveaways!

NewPath Consulting has given away more than 150 books since we started our book giveaway in 2012. We have given away 7 books and have delighted small business owners all over North America and even in Europe, Asia and Africa. While we spend an average of $500 per book give away (shipping is getting expensive!), and the returns have been amazing. Most of our clients we have now are a direct result of this marketing effort.

Here are the books we have given away since we started:

  1. The Thank You Economy
  2. Hit Me Again…I Can Still Hear Him Talking!
  3. Anything You Want
  4. To Sell is Human
  5. The Personal MBA
  6. The Power of Habit
  7. Remote: Office Not Required

Last November, NewPath Consulting offered to send New York Times bestseller The Power of Habit as our gift to anyone who requests it. A handful of people took up the offer and a couple of them have shared their reviews of the book. Here they are:

Reader David Gargaro, a consulting editor, wrote in:

"I've started reading the book and I really like it so far. The insights on the psychology of developing habits are very interesting, and I'm looking forward to reading about how that is applied to the business world. It is a well written book to this point and I am sure that many others will get a lot out of the book as well."

Another long-time reader Scott McIntosh writes:

I did enjoy the book very much. It reads like a book by one of my favourite authors, Malcolm Gladwell (which I hope is a complement, though some authors really don't like him). One of the very interesting parts of the book was about Outcast's song "Hey Ya!". I came to the sad realization why "easy listening" MoR music is so popular, and why Simon Cowell is so wealthy. Most people really don't want "new". People are wired for habit and familiarity so much, that it punishes innovation in our music industry. But I suppose we treat all sensory things in this way, especially food and entertainment. I was not aware that unwanted habits can be so easily developed. I always had assumed that a person was wired for these kind of things at an early age (biology, environment, trauma, etc.), and so one would be either immune or susceptible. The "cue-routine-reward" loop is dead-on, and it has made me conscious of that model in a couple of areas of my life. The appendix (User's guide to using the ideas), is the key to activating change — really well done. I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Charles Duhigg, the author of the book, has released a neat flowchart to help you keep your new year resolutions: http://charlesduhigg.com/have-resolutions/

If you are committed to making some key changes in your life or business, I'm sure reading The Power of Habit will be a valuable investment.
