Update April 29 2014: A full account of the attacks, TypePad's response and future looking statements are now online.
Since Thursday our primary content management and blogging system, TypePad, has been in-operational. Several distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks rendered all TypePad powered websites as well as the TypePad dashboard completely in-operational. We apologize on behalf of TypePad for any inconvenience this has caused. TypePad described what has occurred over on their blog. The most recent downtime occurred for most of the day on Sunday, April 20 2014.
From about 9:30am Eastern time to roughly 4:45pm Eastern time on April 20, all TypePad sites and the dashboard were down. Below is the status tweet that informed everyone of the start and end of the downtime
Hi Folks! We're aware that Typeapd is down and are working on it. We apologize for the issue & thank you for your patience! #typepadstatus

Needless to say, we take website outages like this very seriously. We depend on our cloud application providers to be responsible for the uptime of their services. To date, we have never experienced a rash of downtimes like this from any of our cloud application service providers.
